Sunny's Fashion

As we are getting closer to winter and having chillier weather for walking, I've been trying to figure out how to cheaply and easily get clothes she'll wear (I know, I swore I wasn't dressing her up). I've considered knitting or crocheting a few things, or even sewing a coat, but when I came across this sweater at walmart for less than $6, I had to get it!

I think it turned out pretty cute.

Entering the Rascal Stage

While I still love my Sunny girl, I think she has officially entered the rascal stage of her upbringing. She seems to have figured out new ways to get into everything--she can open closed kitchen cabinet doors, leap onto couches with a small bound, and if the teeniest bit of it hangs off the kitchen counter, she can jump up and pull it down.

I feel like somehow she's entered the terrible twos!

Sunny to the Mall

Sunny will be at Partridge Creek tomorrow afternoon from approximately 12:00-2:00. If you feel like coming to meet up with her and Miss T, we'd love to see you! Bring your pups as well since it's puppy-friendly.

First Haircut!

Sunny is currently getting her first haircut at the groomer's so I thought I could give you all an update. She's learned a lot in these last few weeks and has become a part of the family. It's strange to not have her cuddled up by my feet or bringing me a toy as I am typing, asking, "Will you play with me?" She is still a sweet little girl with a lot of energy but is doing much better now that she has learned "off" and is getting pretty good at it. We're thinking she'll grow up into a great doggie! Right now, she is 7.5 lbs and it looks like she won't get up to where her breeder said she might, she'll likely stay on the lower end of that range (maybe just 15 lbs!). Once I have pictures of her haircut, I'll post those. Then, she'll be ready to see the world.

Before: I'm cute, but help me since I can't see mommy!

Back from the groomer's and we are happy! She came out and was happy to see me, but gave her groomer kisses before she left and was wagging her tail the whole time we talked. She's a little poodle-y looking, but her groomer said to let her know what I'd like her to do for next time, she gave her the standard "puppy cut" this time. She seems like she shrunk down (she's got a lot of fur) and it makes her look almost dainty with her paws trimmed so nicely.

After: I look a bit like my dad, but I'm still pretty cute! I think it's maybe that the sides of her face were trimmed shorter than the top. We'll be back though.

Bird Dog!

Yesterday we took Sunny to my mom's work, which happens to have a courtyard with pigeons. She looked for awhile and then took off chasing one. She had it cornered behind a bush and if I wouldn't have picked her up, I think she would have caught it. She's a pretty spunky little girl. She also had lots of fun meeting Mom's coworkers and was very good with all.

Thirteen Weeks Old

Even though Sunny is still teething, we've had a whole lot less nipping this week. She's got some more appropriate chew toys (Lola, she loves her skunk!) and seems to be getting a good amount of exercise. We're up for some more shots on Monday, so hopefully all will go well with the vet and maybe he will have some more information about how she is developing.

Twelve Weeks Old

Sunny is quickly becoming a part of the Tucker family! She's gotten where she recognizes her name and mostly comes to it, knows the family's voices and who does what. I'm the food lady and bring all toys. My Dad is the chew toy/playmate. My mom is a fun person who throws a ball when she wants it and holds her while I eat my breakfast. My Grandma is fun and likes to play but is a bit dangerous because she likes to trap her with her feet. We're trying to break her of this habit. Thus far she doesn't really want to eat for anyone but me, but she'll eat a little midday.

She likes to chase my fingers on the computer, loves her new bones (though she likes my laundry better), and really likes people. She's not so sure about dogs yet, but she does like her neighbor dog Mika! They all want to know what she is and how does a "goldendoodle" happen. So, Helen, you get a lot of free publicity whenever I take her out. She's in need of a bath so I'm hoping to get pictures of that tonight!

Sunny's First Two Days

So far Sunny is catching on to daily life wonderfully! She is so cute and loves to play outside and inside. We're thinking she might like agility later because of how well she runs and jumps to chase her toys. She's also a little bundle of love whenever I pick her up and is super calm when held, which really helps with Grandma.

She has learned:
  • where her food spot is
  • where her potty spot is
  • to follow me around :)
  • to sleep through the night (yes!)
  • the command "Sit"

She's working on:
  • walking on leash happily
  • staying in crate without whining when we go somewhere (going on 20 minutes now)
  • bite inhibition
  • playing fetch with her Wubba toy
